More than £5 million of council tax owed to Aberdeen City Council went uncollected last year – but the authority says rates are improving.
In 2017/2018 the city council was due over £112 million and collected around £107 million, according to new Freedom of Information figures.
The council was due £105 million in 2016/2017 and collected about £102 million.
More than 45,000 reminder letters were sent to residents in both each of those years, while around 20,000 summary warrants over unpaid council tax were sent out in 2017/2018.
The Freedom of Information response further states that no city councillors had to be reminded to pay their tax or were summoned to court over the period.
A council spokeswoman said that the collection rate had increased by 0.46% this year.
