Scores of vintage agricultural vehicles toured around the north-east at the weekend as part of an eye-catching fundraising event.
It was the 18th Buchan Vintage Tractor Run, an outing that has already raised more than £90,000 for good causes.
The colourful convoy of 80 classic farming machines set out from Fetterangus at around 10am on Sunday for the latest of their trips around rural Aberdeenshire.
Previous events have seen the tractors, some of which date back to the 1940s, drive through Kinmundy, Stuartfield, Old Deer and Clola.
This time they made their merry way to Strichen before stopping for lunch at Fraserburgh Leisure Centre.
Then it was on to Cairnbulg before returning to Fetterangus, near Mintlaw.
People lined the route to cheer on the drivers and their machines and show support for this year’s chosen cause, the Fraserburgh Parkinson’s Support Group.
While organiser Doug Nicol was not behind the wheel of a tractor himself, he was one of the marshals who helped to guide the run.
He said the event had been a huge success – helped by fine weather – and had run very smoothly, just like the vintage machines.
“Back in 2003 we had around 40 tractors take part and now we are up to 80,” he said.
“We had a farmer from Dufftown and other people came from every corner of Aberdeen, Moray and Fraserburgh.
“There were also a lot of people who came out to see the tractors as well.”
Mr Nicoll said fundraisers were already working on 2019’s event, which he hopes may pay a visit to Peterhead.
The Buchan Vintage Tractor run began in the year 2000.
Since then it has raised money for Buchan renal unit, NHS Grampian’s discretionary fund, Peterhead Community Hospital, Marie Curie, cancer charity Clan and the asthma clinic at Fraserburgh’s Saltoun Surgery.
