More affordable homes will be built in Aberdeen with a funding boost of almost £5million from the Scottish Government.
The cash pledge comes as part of a major investment to help increase the number of affordable houses across the country.
Housing Minister Kevin Stewart said: “Affordable housing is about more than just bricks and mortar – it provides safe, warm homes, and delivers great benefits for Aberdeen and the country as a whole.
“The most recent statistics show we have delivered almost 72,500 affordable homes since 2007 and we are on track to deliver at least 50,000 over this Parliament, backed by over £3billion. That is the single biggest investment in, and delivery of, affordable housing since devolution, and I am determined to see that benefit every part of Scotland.”
Increases in funds have been guaranteed for Aberdeen for the next three years, with £17.1million committed for this year, rising to £18.1million in 2019-20 and £19.3million in 2020-21.
The Scottish Government hopes to bring overall funding for affordable housing across the country to £1.79billion by 2020-21.
Mr Stewart added: “We will work in partnership with councils and housing associations to deliver quality homes to meet the needs of Aberdeen, backed with financial certainty. It means the council can plan homes now, with a guarantee that funding will increase each year.”
