A person who fell off a tandem bicycle and received serious facial injuries has been rushed to hospital in an air ambulance this evening.
Police and ambulance teams were called to the scene of the incident on the A947 Rothes to Elgin Road, just north of Rothes at the Glen of Rothes trout fishery, shortly after 5pm after receiving reports a cyclist had been injured.
The road was closed for more than an hour while the emergency services attended the scene, but it has since reopened.
The injured individual who was hurt was put on a stretcher before, before being carried into an air ambulance.
They are currently being transported to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
It is currently unknown if the other person on the tandem bike was injured, however the person being transported to hospital by air ambulance is not believed to have sustained life-threatening injuries.
