An Aberdeenshire businesswoman who regularly commutes from her Huntly home to Switzerland will empty her pockets and go on the run in the hope of raising thousands of pounds for charity.
Later this month Alisanne Ennis, 56, will set off on a three-day, 10,000-mile trip across the world – without spending a single penny.
Starting in Huntly with no money, no credit card and no pre-booked travel, the business consultant is preparing for the adventure of a lifetime.
Her mission is similar to a jail break challenges – where people have to get from A to B without spending any cash.
Combining a bank holiday with the three days a year her employers Accenture give her to conduct charity work, Mrs Ennis will begin her journey on May 25.
She said: “My plan – whether it will come off or not – is just to see if anybody wants to help and pretty much go with the flow.
“I think because I’m quite a sociable person I’ve got quite a large network. People are saying if anyone can do this, it’s me.
“I’m hoping I can tap into some of my business associates to see if they would be able to sponsor a hotel or a train ticket or a meal.”
Mrs Ennis is taking on the challenge to raise money for charity Marie Curie which helps tens of thousands people living with terminal illnesses in the UK every year.
“The charity’s committee in Huntly is really strong,” she said.
“They do an awful lot of work out here for Marie Curie and I know a lot of the ladies who help.
“Marie Curie doesn’t just help people with cancer but all terminal illnesses so I thought it would be good as its nurses can help anybody who is poorly.”
