Aberdeen runner Steven Henderson has hit the £4,000 fundraising barrier to help families impacted by the degenerative neurological condition Huntington’s disease (HD).
Steven raised the sum on his second London Marathon in aid of the Scottish Huntington’s Association, the only charity in the country supporting families living with the condition.
He completed the 26-mile course in four hours, 10 minutes.
Mr Henderson said: “My family has a history of HD, when I was younger my grandfather had the condition so I grew up observing him gradually deteriorating to the point that he was unable to do virtually anything for himself.
“My mum and my sister have also tested positive for the faulty gene and will gradually become symptomatic”.
SHA community fundraiser Linda Winters said: “Steven has been an unbelievable supporter over the years and we hope he will continue to be so for many more, we can’t thank him enough for his efforts”.
SHA supports HD families through a national network of specialists, a world leading youth support team and its financial wellbeing service
