Echt pair share the same wedding day as Harry and Meghan

An Aberdeenshire bride who married yesterday said it was “great” to share a wedding date with the royal couple.

Ria Cable, 31, and Mark Petrie, 34, tied the knot yesterday at Aberdeen’s Marcliffe Hotel watched on by friends and family.

The newly-weds, who live in Echt, had been preparing for their big day for the last year.

But little did they know that Prince Harry would pop the question to American actress Meghan Markle in November and set the very same date.

Now the new Mrs Petrie, who owns a tanning salon business in Inverurie, said that they would always remember the date.

Mrs Petrie said: “We had booked the date about a year ago and obviously we didn’t know about the royal wedding then.

“I think it’s great that we shared a date with Meghan and Harry – for one thing it will be an easy anniversary to remember.”
