A north-east care home has been warned it must make urgent improvements or face losing its registration following a damning inspection.
Garioch Care Home, in Inverurie, has been served a formal improvement notice by the Care Inspectorate.
The notice lists three areas which need to be drastically overhauled, including better access to toilet and bathing facilities for residents and staff training.
Inspectors recently visited the Commercial Road facility, which is run by firm Brighter Kind and have ordered them to make the improvements by June 4.
The inspectors found that the facilities were not fit for purpose and did not meet hygiene standards.
They also reported concerns that some staff were not adequately trained in adult support and protection.
There were also failings identified in the system which staff used to report concerns they had in these areas.
The home, which has room for up to 37 people, has been ordered to implement procedures to ensure all allegations and actual incidents of abuse are reported and sufficient action is taken to protect at-risk residents.
Colin Clark, Gordon MP, said: “It is disappointing to hear that inspectors have found cause to call for improvements at the Garioch Care Home in Inverurie.
“Care homes, both publicly and privately-run, have a duty to provide the highest possible standards for residents.
“I expect that the management team at the home will respond quickly and positively to the recommendations made in the report.”

Aberdeenshire Council has confirmed its adult protection unit has launched an investigation at the care home.
Brighter Kind said staff had already begun to comply with the inspectorate’s orders.
A spokesman said: “We have been in frequent contact with the CI (Care Inspectorate) since the inspection and we will be meeting with them again within days to discuss our proposed plan of refurbishment and improvement works.
“We are already providing refresher and enhanced staff training. Although all of the required notifications were made to the CI we have reinforced to staff the need for this to happen more promptly.”
