The north-east will enjoy a sunny bank holiday weekend, even if the heat doesn’t quite match up to the rest of the UK.

Temperatures are likely to climb up to 26C in the central belt of Scotland and rise to 30C in England.

Aberdeen won’t be reaching such highs but temperatures will still reach up to 21C tomorrow with unbroken sun promised by forecasters.

Further north, residents in Banff could reach 22C and peak at 24C in Forres.

The recent fine weather has certainly put a smile on the faces of staff in Aberdeen’s ice cream parlours.

A spokesman for Crolla’s Gelateria in the city said: “Aberdeen may not be getting very high temperatures compared to the rest of Scotland but the increase in sun is still very good for everybody.

“Because of that we are expecting a slightly busier than normal weekend with it being a holiday.  We are very thankful for the weather we have experienced over the last few weeks. Hopefully it continues.”

A Met Office spokesman said: “I think it will be a good weekend for Aberdeen and the surrounding areas.

“Today we may have some fog and mist in the early hours of the morning, but it will clear up quickly for people to enjoy their day.

“The north-east will see temperatures reaching as high as 24C inland. Nearer the coast things will likely stay at around 15C.

“Sunday is a fairly similar story. There may be rather murky conditions in the early morning but after that the sun will grace us with its presence once more.”

In comparison to the sun of Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, England has received flood warnings amidst heavy rain that will follow their heat wave.

This weather is likely to reach Aberdeen by Tuesday as scattered showers and increased har settle over the region.

The Met Office spokesman said: “Even though the weather in Aberdeen won’t be quite as hot as other areas in Scotland, we still won’t be anywhere near the horrible weather England will experience.

“For now though, despite the early morning mist, it is going to be a lovely weekend for Aberdeen and surrounding areas.”
