An Aberdeen actor who swapped his life to try his hand at a career in Hollywood has landed a new role on stage.
Richard Rennie, a 32-year-old former Aberdeen Grammar School pupil, moved to Los Angeles 18 months ago to chase his acting dream.
Mr Rennie was formerly a dancer at the world famous Moulin Rouge cabaret in Paris.
But since turning to acting, the Aberdonian has already found some success with roles in this year’s Bachelor Lions and spoof Call Me By Your Maid – which won best picture at the 11th annual Toscars ceremony.
He is now going to perform on stage as part of a cast of five, in a British comedy ‘Old Frenemies’ which is running for a month starting on June 2 throughout the month in Hollywood.
A British comedy, the play’s executive producer is Sam Bain who wrote and produced hits like Peep Show and Fresh Meat.
Mr Rennie said: “It is exciting to bring that sharp and dry British humour to an American stage, since US citizens relate very well to the British style of comedy. The American written plays are much bigger and more conservative. “Americans seem to love the British humour.
“The play is about an unhappy couple whose marriage is on the rocks, who travel to Wales for a long weekend and stay in a local AirBnb.
“It is a play about mending old relationships, making new ones and learning to forgive and forget the past.”
Mr Rennie said that he has now began writing his own feature film.
