A sight loss charity has launched a search for volunteers to carry out its vital work in Aberdeen.
The Macular Society is seeking people to help it run its monthly meetings which offer encouragement and friendship to those affected by age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
More than 600,000 people in the country have the disease, making it the leading type of sight loss in the UK.
Laura Gray, Macular Society regional manager, said: “The peer support offered by the group is absolutely vital. It’s incredibly reassuring for people to know that there are others who truly understand their situation.
“With more than 200 people in the UK being diagnosed with macular disease every day, the existence of our support groups has never been more important.
“We would love to hear from anyone who has some free time and would be willing to help out, either by helping to organise the meetings or assisting in some other way.”
The Aberdeen Macular Support Group will next meet at North East Sensory Services on John Street at 10.30am on Friday June 22.
