A group of north-east thugs who attacked a young man with a stun gun and a baton have been warned they could be locked up.
Scott Gilmartin and two 17-year-old boys, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pled guilty to a charge of firing a stun gun against Irvine Grant’s head, striking him several times with a baton and repeatedly punching and kicking him on the head and body.
The incident happened at Clerkhill Primary in the Cairntrodlie area of Peterhead on August 27 last year.
The 19-year-old, of Richmondhill Road, Peterhead, admitted the offence at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday.
The two 17-year-olds also admitted a further allegation of assault after they repeatedly punched and kicked another teen, who also cannot be named for legal reasons, on the head and body on the same night at that location.
One of the unnamed teens also admitted carrying a stun gun, an illegal weapon, at various locations in the town.
Sheriff George Aitken deferred sentence on all three, who have no previous convictions, to allow for background reports to be prepared.
He said: “This is an extremely serious offence and you should be under no illusions about that.
“I would advise you to be as fully open as you can with the social work department, it may be the only thing that keeps you out of custody.
“Although I have to warn you that custody is the principal option for sentence in a case of this kind.”
The men will learn their fate next month.
