A street has been cordoned off while emergency crews tackle a kitchen blaze in Stonehaven.
The flames broke out at around 1.45pm at a ground-floor property on Barclay Street.
The fire service has sent one hose reel jet to the scene, and firefighters are using two sets of breathing apparatus and a fan.
A spokeswoman said: “Crews are checking for any fire spreading in the neighbouring properties.”
The road has been shut at its junction with Cameron Street and motorists are being asked to avoid the area.
A police spokeswoman said: “We are assisting the fire service at the scene.
“The road is closed at the moment.”
