Youngsters in a Buchan village are fighting back after the area around their school was plagued by dog fouling.
Pupils from Boddam Primary School have launched their very own poo bag share scheme.
They have attached containers of bags to lampposts throughout the tiny coastal community.
Bags can be taken by dog walkers without charge and people have been asked to donate them to the scheme.
The dispensers, which are made out of plastic bottles, have been placed around the streets of Boddam.
Davie Burnett, who lives in the village, spotted the children putting up the containers and praised them for their efforts.
He said: “I was walking through Boddam and I noticed a few groups of children from Boddam School attaching dog fowling bag containers to the lampposts around the area.
“It’s just a shame that we have had to leave it to get this bad around the villiage for our primary school children to do something about it.
“Boddam had an excellent seasonal orderly that kept the whole village spotless but with council cuts he lost the position which has had a massive effect to the villiage.”
Emma Turnbull, head teacher at Boddam Primary School, said the children decided to act after they noticed the mess of pathways around the coastal community and outside the school.
She said: “Our Eco Group has been installing dog poo bag dispensers around Boddam.
“We launched this initiative in response to the frequency of dog mess on pavements around the village in general, and the school in particular.
“Whilst we would encourage dog owners to walk their pets as often as possible, we also hope they respect others by cleaning up any mess.
“I am also pleased that our pupils are learning to care for animals responsibly and to take action to make their community a better place for everyone.”
