Council chiefs have withdrawn an application to begin work on the historic Provost Skene’s House.
The local authority has long-standing plans to transform the 16th Century city centre building into a tourist attraction.
There have been countless delays, however, as it has progressed plans.
The latest hold-up is the withdrawal of an application for listed building consent.
A council spokesman the decision had been taken to allow the application to be updated and a new application submitted.
He said: “An application for Listed Building Consent (LBC) was made following the decision by Aberdeen City Council in February to carry out a comprehensive renovation of Provost Skene’s House.
“Earlier applications for LBC have been withdrawn and are superseded by a new, single application.”
