A north-east cancer charity has strengthened its team of specialist support workers.
Clan Cancer Support provides emotional and practical help for people affected by the disease, and has appointed two new team members to its children and families service.
Tina O’Boyle, the charity’s children and families service manager, spoke of the importance of these appointments.
She said: “A cancer diagnosis can be difficult to cope with as an adult and can be increasingly difficult for children and teenagers. The impact of a diagnosis in a child’s or teenager’s life may trigger a range of feelings and behaviours which can be challenging for adults to manage and for children and teenagers to understand.”
Based in Aberdeen, the charity covers the whole of the north-east of Scotland and are hosting two free events to increase visibility of their service.
Clan House in Aberdeen will play host to both a lunch & learn open session to anyone wishing to find out more about the children and families service tomorrow from 12.30pm to 2pm. An information evening focused on teenagers will be held on June 21, from 7pm-8.30pm.
