An Aberdeenshire employer has proven that it pays to reward staff, after being named as a finalist at a prestigious business awards.
Phil Anderson, who owns Phil Anderson Financial Services in Ellon, promised to give the entire staff a Christmas weekend in New York to reward them for a successful year.
And now the company has been shortlisted in the Staff Matter category at the 2018 Northern Star Business Awards in recognition of the way in which it excels in looking after its employees.
The winner will be announced at a gala awards ceremony in September.
Mr Anderson said: “We are a relatively small and young company so to be named as a finalist alongside such strong and much bigger contenders is a huge honour.
“I think it confirms that it doesn’t matter how big the company, staff very much matter, and I’m really pleased this awards recognises that.”
The company has introduced a wide range of incentives and benefits for staff, both team-related and individual, flexible working practices such as home working and a training and development programme to support and encourage both personal and professional development.
Last year, Mr Anderson rewarded his longest-serving employee by appointing her company director and gifting her 5% of his company.
He set up the company more than six years ago after being made redundant from a financial adviser post during the property downturn.
