The curtain came down on one of the most exciting art festivals in the north-east yesterday.
Hot off the heels of April’s hugely successful second Nuart Festival, Look Again returned to Aberdeen this past weekend.
The visual arts festival drew people into the city to experience live performance, interactive workshops and playable structures.
Marischal College, Broad Street and Castlegate were among the iconic locations which were transformed over the weekend.
More than 120 artists and designers were involved in this year’s festival, which was organised by Robert Gordon University and art curator Smart.
They were drawn from the region and further afield to bring an eclectic mix of displays to the city.
Textile worker Ellie Turner was just one of those to take part.
She took to social media to say she’d had “the best weekend”.
“I’m lucky to have had such a wonderful opportunity to exhibit as part of Look Again 2018.”
Douglas Lumsden, co-leader of the authority, said the festival was a key part of making the city a popular destination for tourists.
He said: “It’s been a busy weekend across the city with Look Again, the Highland Games and Eid at Rubislaw Gardens.
“It’s not just about the council though, it’s only with the help of our partners, like the university and Look Again that these things are possible.”
Among the highlights from this year’s event were a fairytale-esque house nestled within Marischal College and a “multi-sensory” oil rig playpark on Broad Street.
The festival is designed to take over familiar spaces with contemporary art and design, encouraging residents and visitors to see the city through fresh eyes.
Last night the festival organisers posted a message of thanks on the official Facebook page.
It read: “Thanks to our artists, contributors, volunteers and this incredible team up down here – they’ve all worked so hard to pull the festival together and it couldn’t happen without them.
“But most of all, thanks to all of you who came along to listen, engage and play. We’ve all had a blast and we hope you have too.”
