A north-east school is preparing for the finals of a prestigious music and dance competition.
Peterhead Academy will take part in the UK Rock Challenge Northern Premier Final this weekend.
The pupils from the Prince Street secondary are one of only two Scottish teams taking part in the event in Grimsby on Saturday, with Arbroath High School joining them.
Peterhead Academy finished second in the Northern Premier Final last year.
Securing a place in the competition’s top three means the school would qualify for the national final.
The UK Rock Challenge was launched in 1995 and challenges thousands of schoolchildren to write, produce and perform stage shows for a live audience.
Charlotte Payne, assistant event manager for the UK Rock Challenge, said: “It is great to see the continued enthusiasm of all the students and teachers involved in this year’s events.
“The quality of the performances has been so incredibly high and the standard delivered from each and every school is impeccable.
“One of my favourite things every year is seeing the diversity of the ideas which are tackled and, this year, there have been some amazing original themes.
“I wish all the schools taking to the stage for the Northern Finals the best of luck.”
