A north-east football club has unveiled plans to create a cafe.
Peterhead FC has submitted proposals with the council to create a new coffee shop at Balmoor Stadium.
Management hope to “enhance” the entrance of the ground, which has been the home of the team for over 20 years.
Drawings show what the entrance may look like as well as a small outdoor area proposed for the Blue Toon Café.
Martin Johnston, Peterhead’s general manager, said he was confident a coffee shop at the stadium would be a winner.
He said it would be “well received” by locals if it was to get the go ahead from planning chiefs.
Mr Johnston said: “We have identified there is a need for people to have a point of contact from a social point of view.
“We have got a facility that sits here 365 days a year and the pitch was only used 26 times.
“We have ample parking and we have large housing schemes on both sides of the stadium.
“There’s a trend for people to go to these coffee shop-type properties, so we have done our homework and we think it is something that would be well received by the local community.”
Mr Johnston said the proposals were part of continuing efforts to improve the facilities at Balmoor Stadium and help boost the club finances.
He said: “We are looking to reduce the size of our existing bar to accommodate this separate coffee area and change and enhance the frontage of the stadium to make it a bit more welcoming.
“People who have visited Balmoor Stadium in the last two years would have seen the improvements and we are trying to take that to the next stage.
“We have part-time staff here Monday to Sunday and it makes perfect sense to have this facility.
“We are looking at all revenue streams open to the club.”
Balmoor Stadium was opened in 1997 after the club’s previous Recreation Park was sold to a supermarket chain.
