The Lord Provost of Aberdeen Barney Crockett met members of the armed forces ahead of a large parade down Union Street in support of Armed Forces Day today.
More than 1,000 military personnel will march down Union Street at 11am, accompanied by local pipe bands.
Crowds are expected to line the route to watch the parade of serving, veteran and cadet crews and a number of vintage vehicles.
Yesterday Mr Crockett met various members of the armed forces for a special charity dinner in aid of the army benevolent fund.
He will take the honourary salute from the balcony of the town house today in his role as Lord Lieutenant of the city.
