Firefighters have been called to a north-east golf club tonight after a wildfire broke out near the course and crept towards its clubhouse.
Two fire engines were dispatched to Peterhead Golf Club at 7pm after a patch of gorse caught ablaze.
A spokeswoman for the service said: “There was a gorse fire around about the golf club, and two pumps from Peterhead have been sent to the scene.”
A spokeswoman for the club explained that the flames erupted amid gorse close to the clubhouse.
She said: “The fire started just as you come across the bridge beside the sand dunes, but thankfully the clubhouse is OK and the wind seems to be blowing the flames away from the building now.”
