Firefighters were called to Peterhead Golf Club at about 7pm after a wildfire broke out near the course and crept towards its clubhouse.
One employee said it was fortunate that the wind had been blowing away from the building at the time, as it prevented the fire from spreading further, and two local crews had the blaze under control by 9pm.
A spokeswoman for the service said: “There was a gorse fire around about the golf club, and two pumps from Peterhead were sent to the scene.”
A spokeswoman for the club explained that the flames erupted amid gorse close to the clubhouse.
She said: “The fire started just as you come across the bridge beside the sand dunes, but thankfully the clubhouse is OK and the wind seems to be blowing the flames away from the building now.”
