Police in the Northfield area of Aberdeen are investigating an allegedly intentional blaze at a building site earlier this week which caused thousands of pounds of damage to a construction vehicle.
Fire teams were called to Heathryfold Circle on Monday at around 9.30pm after a large patch of ground felt was discovered on fire.
The flames also spread to a nearby vehicle, causing almost £10,000 of damage.
A group of youngsters were seen fleeing from the site.
Constable Robert Gavin, who is leading the inquiry, said: “I would appeal to anyone with information to come forward and pass this to us.
“We are treating the fire as wilful, and we have been advised that, at the time, youths were seen running from the area.
“Someone in the community will know who was responsible.
“This act could have had far more serious consequences and impacts on the fantastic work being done in the Northfield area.
“I would urge anyone with information to come forward.”
