The fire services was first called to Bennachie Woods near Pitcaples at around 7.30pm yesterday evening and sent eight units to the scene. The gorse fire, which is understood to be around 250 metres by 100 metres in size. The fire service went out to the scene again at around 9.30am after the blaze reemerged. Welfare is being provided to residents by the Forestry Commision. A fire service spokeswoman said: “We are still in attendance.” The cause of the blaze is still unknown.
