A collection of supercars drove through the north-east yesterday to raise money for a leading cancer support charity.

More than 40 vehicles, including a Lamorghini Huracan and a Ferrari 488, were driven from Aberdeen to Dufftown.

They set off from the Marcliffe Hotel and ended up at the Glenfiddich Distillery in Moray.

During the last eight years, the SuperCLAN event has raised more than £60,000 for Clan, a charity set up to provide emotional and practical support to people living with cancer.

Ross Gatt, organiser and founder, said: “We’re delighted that SuperCLAN has gone from strength to strength over the years and now attracts prestigious vehicles from across Scotland who relish the chance to take part in this drive while helping to raise vital funds for such a worthwhile local charity.”

Yesterday the car enthusiastic gathered for the scenic tour across Aberdeenshire before returning to their starting point.

Once the cars had returned, members of the public were invited to view the collection and make donations to the charity.

Drivers were given a goodie bag containing gifts from sponsors.

One of the sponsors, Phillip Harkins, owner of Saks salon in Aberdeen, said: “This is the second year we’ve supported SuperClan.

“It is really nice to help in any way we can for this worthwhile cause.”

Organisers hope to raise £10,000 through all the donations with online pledges alone almost reaching that target.

Steph Dowling, CLAN Cancer Support fundraising team manager, said: “It has been a pleasure to work with the team behind SuperCLAN during the past eight years and watch it develop into such a well-supported, unique event in the north-east attracting so many sought-after vehicles and their proud owners.
