A police helicopter has been used in the searches for a 51-year-old man reported missing from the north-east.
Alexander (Alec) Bain was last seen in the Main Street area of Alford at around 2.30pm yesterday.
It is also understood that he was in the Balloch area of the town, walking on the road heading towards Muir of Fowlis at around 4.15pm yesterday afternoon.
He may also have been in the Tough area.
Inspector Graeme Allan, who is leading the search, said: “Our searches have focused around the Balloch area of Alford today and have involved specialist resources including the police helicopter.
“A number of people have been in touch and have reported seeing him in the Alford and Balloch areas and we are grateful to them for coming forward with information. These sightings provide us with information and each one will be followed up.
“We are continuing to urge anyone who may have seen him or has information as to his whereabouts to contact us on 101 using reference number 3009 of July 11.
“Alec is known to walk long distances and he might have sought shelter in the Alford area. I would urge people to check any outbuildings or sheds that they have for signs he may have been there.
“I would also ask that local shops, garages and businesses to be mindful should Alec come to their premises. He may initially come across as a little confused or uncertain of his whereabouts”.
Alec is described as approximately 6ft 5ins inches with red hair, slim build and has a disability to his left hand. He was last seen wearing black joggers, a blue jacket with white stripes down the sleeve, brown training shoes and carrying a Tesco carrier bag.
