More than 40 nurses from across the north-east have been recognised for their commitment to community care having amassed 1,270 years of service between them.
The group, from across the region, travelled from Buckie to Stonehaven to reunite for an award ceremony in Inverurie.
Each was awarded the Queen’s Nursing Institute Scotland (QNIS) award for long service at the Kintore Arms hotel.
The 49 nurses all work in roles within the community, in roles such as health visiting and district and practice nursing.
Seven members of the group have devoted 30 years or more to their jobs.
Clare Cable, QNIS Chief Executive and Nurse Director, said: “It is so important to recognise the contribution that community nurses make to the health and wellbeing of the people of Scotland and the years of service that ensure patients receive the best care from people they know and trust.
“The need for community nursing expertise has never been greater and we are thrilled to be able to celebrate those in the north-east of Scotland who have dedicated more than 21 years to supporting people at home, in clinics, schools, or residential settings.”
The QNIS Community Nursing Award for Long Service is open to any registered nurse in Scotland who has worked for more than 21 years within the community.
