Six people have been taken to hospital after a crash on a north-east road.
The emergency services were called to a stretch of the A90 at Hatton at 11.50am following a collision between a silver Toyota Yaris and silver VW Touran.
Police sealed off a stretch of the route as firefighters battled to cut trapped passengers from their vehicles and paramedics stood by to take the to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
A spokeswoman for the fire service has now confirmed that the wounded parties were all freed at about 12.45pm though the crews remained at the scene for a further 30 minutes.
She added: “Six casualties were taken into the care of the ambulance service, after fire crews used hydraulic cutting equipment and a spinal board to release them from their vehicles.”
A spokeswoman for the police confirmed that the road was still closed at about 1.45pm.
The condition of the casualties is not yet known, though police said they did not believe that anyone suffered life-threatening injuries.
