Dancers from Peterhead Academy secured a fourth place finish in a prestigious competition at the weekend.
The group from the Prince Street secondary were among the top schools at the national final of the UK Rock Challenge.
Bournemouth-based Leaf Studio, West Lakes Academy from Cumbria and the Rodillian Academy in Wakefield finished ahead of the dancers from Buchan.
The Blue Toon pupils were one of only two Scottish schools taking part in the grand finale at the Magma Science and Adventure Centre in Rotherham on Saturday. They were joined by Kinross High School.
Their performance was based around a story about a young man named Jack who is trapped in a room and his only window to the world is through a skylight.
As well as finishing fourth, Peterhead Academy picked up a string of awards for their concept, stage use, soundtrack and entertainment.
Teacher Lynne Greig travelled south with the group, which is made up of around 80 dancers and crew.
She said: “We are all unbelievably proud of the kids.
“National finals are held once every three years and to place is just amazing.
“Peterhead Academy have been at three out of the four national finals. We are one of only a handful of schools to do so.
“The choreography is 90% done by the kids and it gives them leadership skills they would have had the chance to learn.
“They get to dance on professional stages and some of them haven’t event danced before.”
Banff and Buchan MP David Duguid was at the weekend event in Yorkshire and praised the efforts of those involved.
He said: “I attended the Scottish final in Dundee and I think I became hooked at that point, I wanted to come along to the national final too.
“There’s so much talent on the stage, it’s unbelievable.”
Baroness Ruth Henig, who presented the first prize, said: “I know that all the schools have been here all day and have had a really good time- you can see how excited they are and how much feeling they’re putting into the performances.
“It’s been a fantastic evening and everyone here has really enjoyed it.”
The UK Rock Challenge was launched in 1995 and has encouraged thousands of schoolchildren to write, produce and perform stage shows for a live audience.
