A north-east council is assisting homes which are running low on their private water supplies.
With the region experiencing soaring temperatures for the past couple of months, concern has been growing that households could soon run out of water.
The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (Sepa) has confirmed there are parts of Aberdeenshire where water levels are in “significant scarcity”.
There are more than 11,500 homes in the area which use private supplies, by far the highest number in the country.
The authority has confirmed it has so far received 13 requests for support and it is working with Scottish Water and the Scottish Government to provide bottled water and tanks at no cost.
The council is prioritising requests from vulnerable people, but anyone who needs help should contact environmental@aberdeenshire.gov.uk or 01467 539539 during office hours.
Any homes that need long-term support may be able to be connected to the mains or could be eligible for grants to improve their supply or form a new one.
