The Blue Toon will welcome thousands of people today to the annual event which showcases its diverse community spirit, local produce and activities.
Peterhead is hosting its 57th Scottish Week, a seven-day celebration of the town featuring a range of events.
There will be competitions, food stalls, a gala day, dancing, dog shows, tea dances, buttery mornings, the Red Arrows and much more, with something for everyone.
Organiser Graham Barron said: “In the 60s, the government encouraged towns to promote themselves like this and we’re the only one left in Scotland.
“It’s unbelievable that, as just a small town, we’ve managed to get the Red Arrows again.
“Peterhead Scottish Week has been going since 1961 and we thrive on the fact the old favourites are the well attended events.
“It’s a labour of love. There’s 12 of us on the committee working year round to prepare for each year.
“It’s for visitors but is also a celebration of local people and local produce.
“There’s still a place in the north-east for Scottish Week.”
In preparation for the event, council teams have been linking up with community groups to ensure Peterhead is looking its best.
Aberdeenshire Council’s landscape services, waste collection and street cleansing teams have tackled benches, gardens, pavements and bins to ensure the town looks refulgent.
Peterhead litter groups have been picking up rubbish daily and organising beach cleans with large groups of volunteers.
The landscape services team supplied plants for the Town Centre Improvement Group to brighten the Landale Gardens area as well as planting beds and tubs of flowers for the centre.
They also worked alongside leisure colleagues and the rugby club to improve Catto Park.
Chairman of Aberdeenshire Council’s Buchan Area Committee, Norman Smith, said: “The community is extremely proud of its town and is excited to showcase it in Scottish Week.
“I am glad the council can contribute to the town looking its best for this important event.”
Local councillor Dianne Beagrie said: “Scottish Week is always a highlight of Peterhead’s calendar and is a fantastic way to showcase the community spirit and environment we have here while having great fun.
“We regularly welcome visitors from across Scotland and beyond, so the town always wants to look its best.
“It’s great to see areas where the council is getting involved with local people to make this happen.”
