The north-east’s largest summer gala kicked off on Saturday, with crowds of people travelling to Peterhead to join in the fun.
Scottish Week, now in its 57th year, runs from July 21 to July 29 and showcases a whole host of local talent.
Peterhead is the only town in the country still to hold a Scottish Week, after the government encouraged towns to promote themselves in the 1960s.
The very first Scottish Week featured events that would become established over time to become trademark occasions, such as the Buchan Queen Contest, a sandcastle competition, a carnival parade and a trade fair.
On Saturday, the crowning of the Buchan Queen – Natasha Clueit – kicked off the 2018 celebrations at Drummers Corner.
Ms Clueit, who works as a media assistant at Malcolm Glennie Photography, was joined by Princesses Rachel Calder and Rhiannah Slamaker.
Fun events continued during the weekend, including a rousing performance from the Fraserburgh Royal British Legion pipe band, a picnic in Eden Park and a tasty buttery morning.
Organiser Graham Barron said: “We have had a fabulous start. We had a slight drizzle at the Buchan Queen crowning, but the weather could have been a lot worse. Despite the rain a great number of people still made it along.
“I’ve been involved in this for 25 years and I’m delighted to see so many people still come out and enjoy the events.
“Yesterday, the darts and picnic in the park went really well, and we were blessed with the sun.
“We have the Red Arrow display on Wednesday to look forward to which should be great. We were so lucky to get them.
“Everything should go to plan as long as we don’t have any fog that gets in their way. I’m petrified of fog appearing – you never know with Peterhead’s weather!”
The celebrations will also feature a children’s disco, the carnival parade and the much anticipated aerobatic performance from the Red Arrows.
