A top visitor attraction in Aberdeen is relocating while work on its multimillion pound upgrade is carried out.
Aberdeen Science Centre announced plans for its £4.7million refurbishment last year.
The plans to modernise the Constitution Street centre will mean it doubles in size, allowing staff to inspire and encourage the next generation of scientists.
It is hoped it will also increase the reach of Stem (science, technology, engineering and maths) related education programmes, exhibits, events, clubs and activities.
Work is due to start soon, so the team has secured a new temporary home on George Street to ensure science lovers of all ages can still enjoy the fun.
From November, the team will be based on George Street in unit formerly occupied by the Co-op.
Chief executive Liz Hodge said: “This is another exciting milestone for us as we move closer to our goal of redeveloping and transforming the centre in order to give the people of this area the first-class facility they want and deserve.
“We would like to encourage as many people as possible to visit us in our temporary location and support us throughout this transition.
“It’s very much business as usual for us and we will continue to provide the exciting and interactive exhibits, shows and workshops that we’re renowned for.”
Aberdeen Science Centre, formerly known as Satrosphere, signed a lease with the Bon Accord Centre for the unit at 107 George Street.
Craig Stevenson, manager of the Bon Accord Centre, said he hoped it would bring more families into the city centre.
“The science centre is a real attraction for our customers and we very much look forward to working with them. Bon Accord is always looking for something new for our customers and the Aberdeen Science Centre offers a perfect opportunity to do this.”
Aberdeen Science Centre is expected to return to Constitution Street by spring 2020.
