A drugs mule caught transporting almost £2,000 worth of heroin into the north-east from Liverpool has been warned she could be locked up.
Penny Jones, 23, appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday and pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of the Class A substance.
Fiscal depute Lixia Sun told the court that police stopped her with 26.2 grammes of heroin at the Charleston roundabout on the A90 Dundee to Aberdeen road on May 9.
The fiscal said the drugs had the potential to be sold for £1,770 if divided into small batches.
However, defence agent Liam McAllister described his client as a “vulnerable woman” who was forced into committing the crime by “difficult circumstances” in her life.
He added: “She is more than aware of how serious these matters are.”
Sheriff Phillip Mann agreed to defer sentence until September 4, for reports to be prepared.
But he warned Jones, of Hazeldale Road in Liverpool, that he will “consider” sending her to prison given the “relatively significant” sums involved.
