A north-east teenager has admitting seeking out child pornography and contacting under-16s despite a court order imposed in an effort to protect the public.
The 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, admitted three charges at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday.
They including being in possession of several indecent images of children and using the internet to trawl for more.
During a routine check of his mobile by police, in line with bail conditions previously imposed by the court, officers found search terms including “children playing with their genitals,” “naked kids” and “cute young naked girls” in his web browsing history.
The young man also pled guilty to speaking to a young boy beside Meethill Primary School in Peterhead in April of this year.
The court heard he had been riding a scooter along a path beside the school grounds, where numerous children were playing outside.
Two police officers carrying out patrols in the area saw the man engage with the youngster and later cautioned him for breaching his bail conditions.
He was then apprehended for a second time after being seen near a playpark off Braes Road in Fraserburgh.
His solicitor George Mathers said: “He saw the swings and excitement took over. He just wanted a shot on them.
“He wasn’t looking at the children. He was there because he wanted a shot on the swings.”
Sheriff Jack Brown requested a social work report and said: “These are serious offences, committed on the back of previous offences.”
The man was remanded in custody and will be sentenced next month.
