A bungling drug dealer who forgot he had posted himself cannabis from Amsterdam has been told to expect a jail sentence.
Police found close to £9,000 worth of illegal drugs in Daniel Cator’s house after he accidentally revealed his criminal dealings to the authorities.
In December, border force officials intercepted a package addressed to the 21-year-old containing 16g of cannabis, separated into eight bags each valued at about £250 if resold.
Initially Cator denied all knowledge of the parcel, but depute fiscal John Richardson told Aberdeen Sheriff Court the man had posted it to himself while in the Netherlands.
“He was so wasted at the time he could not remember this,” the prosecutor said.
Police subsequently searched Cator’s house at Cairnhill Steading, Tarves, and found thousands of pounds worth of cannabis concealed in bags and tubs, together with other drug paraphernalia.
His solicitor Liam McAllister told the court: “He is very much now at a crossroads in his life.
“Mr Cator has support from his family and his partner and is actively seeking employment.
“He is taking steps to move in a positive direction.”
Sheriff Jack Brown told the accused: “You must appreciate that anyone involved in the supply of drugs should expect a custodial sentence, but I will keep all of the options open.”
He deferred sentence on Cator, now of Modley Court in Ellon, until next month to allow a social work report to be compiled.
