A new gardening project has been launched in Aberdeen, with organisers looking for volunteers to share their ideas.
Members of Inchgarth Community Council, in Garthdee, are looking to turn their building’s garden into a creative outlet for local residents.
Residents are being encouraged to lend a hand and share their opinions on how to improve the space.
Ideas being discussed include building an entry arch, growing fresh vegetables and constructing picnic tables.
Paul O’Connor, chairman of the council, said: “We want people to use their imagination on what it becomes, to have the freedom to make things happen, and you don’t need any experience at all – just a wee bit of positive attitude and adventure to see what you can all make it.
“It is a great opportunity for people to make this their project and a lovely space that can become a relaxing place for the community.”
The community council is hoping to work with retired people, community groups, schools, and special needs organisations to ensure that every part of Garthdee is properly represented in the garden.
On Thursday, £600 worth of decorative garden items, such as gnomes, planters and hanging baskets, were moved in after weeding by volunteers created space for them.
LED lighting, windmills and bird seed holders have also been purchased to add colour to the space.
Any local residents are welcome to work in the garden and help transform it into a community hub.
Mr O’Connor added: “It doesn’t need to be fancy and people don’t need experience, just be willing to look at ways of improving the grounds while making new friends, having a cuppa, and enjoying the freedom to see what they can make.
“We are looking for cash donations, donations of items, people to help look after it, companies to give their staff a day off to help create new items in the space.
“So this is right at the very beginning, but we are looking for people who want to put their skills to good use, and folks who want to try something different with zero gardening knowledge, but who like the idea of trying things.”
