Meanwhile the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (Sepa) has issued an amber “be prepared” warning for flooding.
A spokesman said: “Heavy showers will affect the region during Friday afternoon and early evening, which may cause localised surface water flooding issues, especially in urban areas and on the road network.
“Smaller watercourses may also rise during more prolonged periods of rainfall.”

It has been suggested that train services could face delays and the weather could knock out some power supplies.
A Met Office spokesman said: “Not everywhere will see the showers, but where they do develop, some localised torrential downpours are possible with 10-15, and very locally 20 mm, of rain possible in an hour.
“Where showers align, this could lead to 25-30 mm (0.7-1.2in) in three hours.
“Showers are expected to die out by early evening.”
