A north-east charity with expertise in social media has donated £2,000 to the lifeboat crew in the Broch.
Janice and Harry Mutch presented the cheque to the team at RNLI Fraserburgh Lifeboat.
Mrs Mutch runs a charity called All Proceeds Go To Charity, whereby she uses a Facebook page to advertise donated items and sells them on, giving all money to local charities.
Mrs Mutch employs space in the PomPrint premises on Station Road, Mintlaw, each Friday to sell off donated items.
She said: “I have a spinal injury and I can’t work in a job, so people donate things to me and I sell them normally on our Facebook group.
“There ended up being too much stuff for our house, so now I open the shop on Fridays, with my son nearby to help.
“If you get bored while you’re injured like me, you get depressed, so I try to keep as busy as I can.
“In the few years I have been ill, I’ve raised and donated over £27,000, but I do it for myself as well as helping local charities.
“We welcome all donations and like helping groups like the RNLI Lifeboat.”
She worked for two months to amass the Broch lifeboat crew’s funds in the hope the money will go towards helping them saving lives at sea.
RNLI Fraserburgh coxswain Vic Sutherland said: “We’re away to purchase new personal protective equipment gear for the crew as some of the stuff here is ten or 15 years old.
“They’re quite happy for the donation to subsidise new waterproof gear.
“I think it’s wonderful that Janice thought of us and thought we were worth supporting.
“We’re not sure of the cost of new gear, but this money will certainly go towards it and take some financial pressure off the RNLI.
“It’s fantastic she chose to support us and we can’t thank Janice enough.”
