Students from the all girls school rejoiced after opening their result letters yesterday.
Iona Thomas-Wright, 18, was over the moon with her results.
The sixth year pupil got the go-ahead to study Natural Sciences at Cambridge University after securing four A1 passes in her Advanced Higher subjects.
This wasn’t the first success of the year for Iona, from Ythbank near Ellon.
The 18-year-old won a Gold Award in the annual national Biology Olympiad at a ceremony in London, after achieving the highest mark in Scotland.
St Margaret’s head teacher Anna Tomlinson voiced her pride for the hardworking student.
She said: “Iona is a fabulous ambassador to our younger pupils.
“She is extremely dedicated to her studies and the hard work and perseverance she displays is an example to all those who know her.
“We are very proud of everything she has achieved during her time at St Margaret’s and we know she has a very bright future ahead of her in the sciences.”
Celebrating alongside Iona was a pair of hockey stars, who were delighted after getting the grades they wanted.
Abby Miller and Lucy McLean, both 18, had been members of the St Margaret’s prestigious hockey team.
Abby, former captain of the team, will soon be embarking on a Physical Education course at Edinburgh University.
Lucy is exploring a slightly different career path, and will be going to study medicine at Aberdeen University.
She said: “During high school I have loved the small class sizes and playing lots of sport.
“Through the years I have also made so many friendships, including with pupils form the younger years, through hockey and sport.”
Younger students at St Margaret’s were also inspired by their results, including 15-year-old Janani Mohan.
Janani, from Aberdeen, received straight As at National Five, with an additional A in Higher Music.
With two years left in high school, she is thinking about studying to become a vet when she leaves.
Ansu Saji, 17, dreams of studying medicine, and was spurred on by top grades in all of her Higher subjects.
She said: “The highlight of my time at St Margaret’s has been the small classes leading to a very family feel.
“The teachers have all gone above and beyond to provide support when needed.”
