Sepa warns north-east to ‘be prepared’ for flooding

An amber “be alert” flood warning has been issued for parts of the north-east.

The Scottish Environment Protection Agency has issued the advice for Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire this afternoon.

It says that “persistent rain” will fall in the area this evening and tomorrow morning, resulting in the possibility of flooding in low-lying areas.

Drivers are also being told to stay alert as the weather could lead to surface water on the roads.

A Sepa spokesman said: “Persistent rain is forecast to continue to affect the south of the area on Sunday evening through into Monday morning.

“There is a risk of flooding to low-lying land and roads from surface water and small watercourses in the areas that see the heaviest rainfall.”
