A man was flown to hospital last night after being rescued from a precarious position at a north-east castle. Coastguard teams from Stonehaven were called out to Dunnottar Castle just before 5.30pm to reports of a man with leg injuries. It is thought he had fallen at an inaccessible part of the 15th century fortress. He was winched to safety by the coastguard helicopter and flown to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. The severity of his injuries is not known. A coastguard spokesman said: “The Stonehaven coastguard rescue team attended after calls of an injured male at Dunnottar Castle. “He was flown to ARI by the coastguard rescue helicopter which was met by a team from Aberdeen coastguard at the landing site.”
