A man has appeared in court following an alleged sexual assault in Aberdeen city centre at the weekend.
Police were called to George Street in the early hours of Saturday morning following reports of a woman in distress.
Andrew Conway, 34, appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court charged with assault with intent to rape and attempting to defeat the ends of justice yesterday.
He made no plea and was remanded in custody.
Conway, of Aberdeen, is expected to return to court at a later date.
Following the incident Detective Inspector Davie Howieson appealed for people with information to come forward.
He said: “I would like to thank those who have assisted with our inquiries so far, in particular witnesses who came forward as a result of our appeal at the weekend.
“There are still a number of people we would like to speak to so I appeal once again for anyone who was in the area that night and has yet to speak to police to please get in touch.”
