A hospital patient threatened to bundle a female doctor into the boot of his car and hold her hostage in a cage for days before raping her.
Bruce Ross, from Aberdeen, claimed he would rip out the doctor’s larynx and told other staff at Perth’s Murray Royal Hospital that he would kill them as well and flee in a stolen car.
The 36-year-old patient said: “I am a dangerous person and can do bad things to people. On release from prison I’m going to find where the doctor lives.
“I will use my car and put her in a cage in the boot, leaving her for a few days, then I will hurt her in a number of ways.
“I have so much power in my thumb and forefinger that I could snap her larynx. Following this I will rape her and make her as anxious as she has made me.”
Perth Sheriff Court was told yesterday that Ross was chillingly calm as he made the horrific threats against the named doctor.
Fiscal depute Michael Sweeney said: “Two nurses were on the day shift when they heard the accused making comments they described as completely unprompted.”
Ross told them: “If I need to get out of here I just need to kill the staff on duty and take their keys and cars.” When another staff member arrived to help, he stated: “I will slash her.”
Mr Sweeney said Ross warned the staff that they should not tell him their surnames as it would make it easier for him to find them when he was released from hospital.
Ross was then heard banging on a door until it could be heard cracking and he was reported to the police because of the sinister nature of his threats.
The following day he made the rape threats about the doctor in front of other members of staff.
She was alerted to what he had said he would do to her.
Mr Sweeney said: “Again this was stated in a calm manner and the police were called due to the nature of the threats.”
Similar threats were then made on October 10.
Ross, Old Town Place in Aberdeen, admitted acting in a threatening or abusive manner at Murray Royal Hospital on October 3 by damaging a door and saying he would slash and kill nursing staff.
He also admitted that between October 4 and 10 he threatened to trace and detain the doctor in the boot of his car before raping her.
Solicitor David Holmes, defending, said Ross had suffered a head injury and had also been struggling to cope with a change in his medication.
Sheriff William Wood granted Ross bail and deferred sentence for reports, telling him: “Clearly these are quite serious matters.”
