A trio of thieves made off with vacuum cleaners, dishwasher tablets and sweets during a unusual shoplifting spree last year.
Roy Clark, Stephanie McAllister and John McKenzie appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court for sentencing yesterday for their parts in the crimes.
Each played a different role in a series of thefts over October and November, with Aldi on Westhill Drive and Westhill Service Station on Straik Road among their targets.
Their final haul included six vacuum cleaners worth £1,007.94 and £34.38 worth of dishwasher tablets and confectionery. None of the items were recovered.
McAllister took both an unknown quantity of alcohol and a number of electrical items, which were later found and returned.
The court was told the 31-year-old had been “dabbling with crack cocaine” at the time and had to pay for drugs, which led to her involvement in the “escapade”.
In addition to his part in some of the thefts, McKenzie was also charged with assault for hitting a shop worker during one of the thefts “in order to facilitate his exit” from the store.
Sheriff Sukhwinder Gill sentenced 41-year-old Clark, of Wingate Road, to 200 hours of unpaid work and McKenzie, 21, of the same address, to 135 hours.
She deferred sentence on McAllister, of Arnage Drive, for six months.
