Frantic friends and family of a missing father-of-four launched a search around Peterhead yesterday.
Ramunas Spakauskas was last in the Clerkhill area of the town at about 8.30am on Thursday.
Police have been looking for the 36-year-old, who works as a cleaner for Mintlaw-based Macduff Shellfish, but have so far found no trace of the Lithuanian national.
And after he missed his nephew’s birthday on Saturday, his family decided to launch their own hunt for him.
Sister Jurgita Jakiene led the efforts after putting out an appeal on social media for others to join her.
The 35-year-old admitted she has not yet told her mother – who still lives in Lithuania – that Mr Spakauskas is missing due to her poor health.
She said: “We haven’t told my mum what is going on because she has a problem with her heart and until we know what has happened we won’t say anything to her.
“My sister and other family members in Lithuania know about it.
“He is a quiet person.
“He is married and he has four children. The youngest is only two.
“It was my son’s sixth birthday on Saturday and my brother is his godfather.
“I decided to ask for help because it’s been three days and we cannot find him.”
About 15 volunteers were out helping her search through Aden Country Park in Mintlaw and Meethill Tower and another group headed out around the coast.
Searches also took place in the town centre with shopkeepers along Marischal Street being show his photograph.
Officers also urged people living in the local area to check garages, sheds and even dashcam footage for any fresh sightings of Mr Spakauskas.
Inspector Paul McCruden urged anyone with information to come forward.
He said: “It is out of character for Ramunas to not be in touch with his family and naturally they are very concerned for his welfare.
“We are appealing for anyone who has seen Ramunas or may have information which could assist us to get in touch. We also want to reassure Ramunas that he is not in trouble in any way, we just want to make sure he is okay.
“Ramunas works in the Mintlaw area and lives in Peterhead and we would ask that if anyone has seen him in these areas to contact us.”
Mr Spakauskas is described as being around 5ft 10 inches, with a slim build and short light brown hair.
When he was last seen, he was wearing a black hooded top with green stripes on the sleeves, dark blue jeans and grey trainers.
Anyone with information is urged to contact police on 101.
