The emergency services were called to the River Esk, near Laurencekirk, at 2.15pm. A police spokeswoman said there were “concerns for someone in the water”. Fire engines were sent from Montrose and Brechin, along with a water rescue team from Aberdeen. A spokeswoman for the fire service confirmed that the incident was still ongoing, with appliances remaining at the scene.
