Firemen will be kitted out in their uniforms as they take on a 75-mile fundraising walk across the north-east.
Six crew from Peterhead will take part in the event from the port to Dyce in Aberdeen next month.
They hope to raise £5,000 through their efforts for The Fire Fighters Charity, which is marking its 75th anniversary this year.
The trek along the old Banff and Buchan railway line will take place over two days starting on November 7 and involves an overnight stay at Dyce Fire Station before their return walk home.
Watch manager Robbie Sturrock, 52, will lead the hike along the old Buchan railway line and said they have been preparing for their saunter.
And he said donning their helmets, tunic, leggings and boots to walk across Aberdeenshire will not be easy.
Mr Sturrock, who has been a fire fighter for 26 years, said: “We will be in full fire kit, which will make it slightly harder.
“We are all pretty fit and have been doing a few trial runs between Peterhead and Mintlaw.
“The Fire Fighters Charity is for any fire fighter and it can help with rehabilitation following an injury and mental health issues.
“They do a lot for firefighters and their families. It is a worthy cause and it is solely run by donations.”
Mr Sturrock will be joined by his colleagues Gary Collins, Malcolm Cooper, James Simpson, Stuart McLelland and Dean Peacock.
Between them the group have more than 100 years of firefighting experience.
They have almost met their target with their online fundraising page showing they are closing in on the £5,000 figure.
Mr Sturrock said that with a little over a month to go until the challenge they were almost ready to take on the trek.
He said: “With a month to go until the date we’ve all been busy with our preparations.”
