A man has confessed to carrying out a brutal attack and robbery outside a supermarket in Aberdeen city centre in the early hours of the morning.
Allen Ross went to the Morrisons store on King Street on his bike and left it at around 3.40am in order to withdraw some cash.
He was then approached by Richard Tomkins who asked him the time.
The two men had a short conversation and Tomkins then made off with his bike.
Mr Ross chased him and shouted at him to return it.
Tomkins then climbed off the vehicle, walked up to Mr Ross and punched him multiple times before getting back on the stolen item.
Mr Ross continued to try to get it back, but was pushed to the ground and kicked on the head before Tomkins fled.
A witness who had seen events unfold called both the ambulance and police.
Later in the morning, officers received reports of a man on a bike knocking doors at Hutcheon Court.
They took Mr Ross to the scene where he identified the bike as his own.
CCTV also revealed Tomkins, who officers found near Hutcheon Court, was the man who had carried out the attack.
The 25-year-old confessed to assault and robbery on August 3 this year during an appearance at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday.
The court heard he had been to jail before.
Sheriff Ian Wallace deferred sentence on him in order to obtain reports.
Tomkins, of Wales Street in Aberdeen, will return to court to learn his fate next month.
